Hardwired motors are better for new construction and for shades that cycle every day, because nobody ever has to think about them.
Yes. Integration at Work, AV retrofits shades into finished homes regularly. Battery motors and surface-mounted fascia make it straightforward in most rooms. The one thing retrofit cannot always deliver is a fully recessed ceiling pocket, which usually needs the ceiling open.

It depends what you want to keep. A three to five percent openness solar screen cuts glare and heat while keeping the view. A one percent screen is darker and more private.
